About Us

We are an adult choir of about 80 singers currently under the direction of John Sutton.

Compton and Shawford Festival Choir (CSFC) is so named because of its involvement in the annual Winchester and County Music Festival.

We sing each year, either in Romsey Abbey or Winchester Cathedral  together with other choirs, which gives us the chance of performing works which we could not otherwise do because of the resources required. It also gives us the opportunity to work with excellent soloists and orchestras.

Usually we hold at least one other concert each year and have recently sung works by Faure, Rutter, Bach, Handel, Orff and Poulenc.

Recently choir members have had the opportunity to support local “come and sing” workshops and, together with our partner London choirs, have sung in  France and Italy at various venues including the cathedrals at Arras and Laon.

We were first formed in 1921 and are always delighted to welcome new members –especially tenors, altos and basses.
